Ericka O'Rourke

Artist Ericka O'Rourke creates her art as an exploration of relationships and connections to the natural world. She is inspired by geologic formations, walks along the coast, past civilizations, flora and fauna - the inherent natural beauty in the surfaces, textures, colors, and organic forms.  She holds a BFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts with concentrations in painting, ceramics, printmaking, and photography.  Ericka began her career as a graphic artist and book designer in the mid 1990’s for Random House Publishing as well as a freelance artist for numerous other clients. Her digital artwork, photo editing and book designs have been featured on the covers of over 300 books. In 2006, along with 3 other creatives, Ericka founded the Allentown Art Guild, a non-profit 503c dedicated to creating a sense of community, education and awareness of the arts in the local Allentown, NJ community. In addition, Ericka has worked as an art educator teaching workshops in painting, drawing, ceramics, metalsmithing, and graphic design. Currently, Ericka lives with her husband, daughter, and 2 crazy boxers and continues to work as a freelancer for Penguin Random House in New York City. She divides her time between her NJ and Maine studios.
